To clean your gun make sure you first remove the breech plug and soak it in breech plug cleaner while you clean the barrel. Some people recommend a mixture of warm water and dishwashing soap and other recommend a cleaning solution you can get at any ammo store. Start by pumping the rod and cleaning patch through it up and down.

After cleaning the barrel, dry it by running several dry patches through the bore until one comes out dry. Finally run seasoning patch or bore butter through the bore. It protects the barrel from rust.

After cleaning and drying the barrel take the breech plug from the cleaner and use an old toothbrush to clean the threads. Use plenty of grease on the threads be for reinstalling the plug in the barrel.
